As the founder of Navon Study International, I’ve always believed that education is more than just textbooks and lectures—it’s about experiences that shape who you are. One of the most pivotal experiences in my own journey was spending a year in Barcelona, Spain, while pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.
It was a year that changed everything for me—not only in terms of my career but also my understanding of the world and myself.
I began my studies in Geneva, Switzerland, at a university known for its excellence in business education. But when the opportunity came to spend one year on the university’s Barcelona campus, I knew it was something I couldn’t pass up. Barcelona, a city known for its vibrant culture, its rich history, and its entrepreneurial spirit, seemed like the perfect place to expand my horizons. Little did I know, it would offer me far more than I ever expected.
From the moment I arrived in Barcelona, I was captivated. The city has an energy like no other—a place where tradition meets innovation, and every corner tells a story. I knew I had to do more than just study—I had to truly embrace the experience, and that meant learning the language and culture.
Within the first few months, I started learning Spanish, and by the end of the year, I could speak it confidently. Mastering the language wasn’t just a practical skill—it was a gateway into the heart of Spanish culture. It allowed me to connect with locals, understand their customs, and build deeper relationships, both personally and professionally.
Barcelona is a feast for the senses, and my year there wasn’t just about learning business—it was about living life to the fullest. I fell in love with Spanish cuisine and made it a point to explore the city’s culinary treasures. From the bustling markets of La Boqueria to the hidden tapas bars scattered across the city, I enhanced my culinary knowledge and discovered a passion for food that I hadn’t known before. Learning to cook traditional Spanish dishes became a hobby, and it’s something I carry with me to this day.
